Planned appointments & urgent same-day visits when available · 100% privately owned · CareCredit accepted
"Saying goodbye to a beloved pet is one of the hardest decisions you'll ever make. Our mission is to provide a gentle, dignified, and peaceful experience — in the comfort of your home, surrounded by love, familiarity, and family."
The last moments you share with your pet deserve to be as quiet, comfortable, and stress-free as possible. In-home euthanasia allows your pet to remain in their favorite spot — in a soft bed, on the living room rug, or under a shade tree in the yard — surrounded by the sights, sounds, and scents of home.
For many pets, the trip to a busy clinic is filled with anxiety: the car ride, the unfamiliar smells, and the presence of other animals can cause unnecessary distress. Choosing a home visit removes these stressors, allowing your pet's final experience to be one of pure comfort and calm, and allowing your family the private space to grieve, reflect, and say goodbye without feeling rushed or observed.
We believe in treating every animal with the same gentle respect and dignity we would want for our own. From our initial phone consultation to the gentle sedation and final procedure, we work at a slow, peaceful pace, guiding you through each step of the journey.
No cold exam tables, slippery floors, or crowded waiting rooms. Your pet rests in the space where they feel safest.
Grieve openly, cry, or share memories in private. Other household pets can also be present to understand and say their own goodbyes.
Every step happens only when you are ready. We provide deep, gentle sedation first so your pet falls into a peaceful, pain-free sleep.
Based in Pensacola, we travel throughout Escambia and Santa Rosa counties — and into surrounding communities when our schedule allows. If you're not sure whether you're in our area, just call or text — we'll tell you straight.
No corporate red tape. No quotas. Decisions are made by the veterinarian in your home — not a boardroom.
We build in generous time before, during, and after the appointment, so your family is not watching a clock or waiting on a next slot.
When your pet is suffering and time matters, we do our best to come to you — including evenings, weekends, and emergencies when possible.
Every step is designed to minimize fear, pain, and distress. Your pet receives gentle sedation before anything else, so most pets become deeply relaxed or asleep before the final medication is given.
You choose where, when, and who is present — indoors, outside, in your arms; with children, other pets, or just you. We never rush, and we walk you through every step at your pace.
We coordinate cremation or home burial, paw-print and fur keepsakes, and the paperwork — so once we leave, there is nothing left for you to figure out alone.
We guide you through every step with care and transparency. Here is what a typical visit looks like.
We come to your home unhurried and respectful. We take time to meet your pet, settle in with your family, and walk through every step before we begin.
Your pet receives a sedative tailored to their size, temperament, and medical needs — allowing them to drift into a deep, comfortable sleep before anything else happens.
Once peacefully sedated, there is no rush. Hold them, speak to them, be with them. We step back and give your family all the space and time you need.
The final medication is given gently while your pet is already deeply relaxed or asleep. The transition is typically calm and quiet, and we will explain ahead of time what normal physical changes you may see so nothing feels unexpected.
"You may choose wherever your pet is most comfortable — indoors on their favorite spot, outside in the garden, or held in your arms. This is their moment. And yours."

Knowing when to say goodbye is one of the hardest parts of loving an animal. There is no perfect answer — but there are gentle signs that can help guide this deeply personal decision. You may notice some of the following:
Difficulty breathing, persistent pain, or distress that cannot be managed
Inability to eat, drink, or maintain basic bodily functions
Loss of interest in the people and activities they once loved
More bad days than good, despite treatment and comfort care
Diagnosed terminal condition with a declining trajectory
Your gut tells you your pet is suffering, and it is time
If you are unsure, we are here to talk it through with you — on the phone, without pressure. Call or text anytime.
Talk with our team about your pet's situationWe partner with a trusted local provider to ensure your pet is treated with dignity and respect throughout. You choose what feels right for your family — and we walk you through each option before your appointment.
If local ordinances allow, many families choose to lay their pet to rest at home — in a favorite spot in the yard or garden. We will guide you on preparing the pet and the space with care.

Private, veterinarian-owned and led by doctors with backgrounds in emergency and critical care. Every visit is handled by a veterinarian who shares a deep commitment to compassionate, dignified end-of-life care — because we believe the last visit deserves as much care as the first.
Dr. Matyi founded Peaceful Passage on a simple belief: every pet deserves a gentle, dignified farewell, and every family deserves a calm, unhurried companion through it. His years in emergency and critical care taught him how to keep a steady head in the hardest moments — and how much it matters to slow down when a family needs time.
Dr. Baker brings a thoughtful, warm presence into every home. His background spans emergency medicine and general practice, and he is known for his calm confidence and the care he takes to answer every question — no matter how small. Pets settle around him almost immediately.
Dr. Takalo brings a lifelong love of animals and a deep respect for the human–animal bond into every appointment. Known for her quiet, reassuring manner, she is dedicated to ensuring that every pet's final moments are filled with peace and dignity — and that every family feels heard.
No. We always begin with a gentle sedative to ensure your pet is fully relaxed and comfortable before any other step. By the time the final medication is given, your pet is in a deep, peaceful sleep — free of any awareness, discomfort, or fear.
Absolutely. You are welcome to have whoever you would like present — family members, children, close friends. You are also welcome to be alone with your pet if that feels right. This is your moment, and we support whatever works best for you and your family.
Most appointments last between 45 and 90 minutes. We never rush — we build in generous time at the beginning to settle in, and we stay with you afterward to talk through aftercare and answer any questions before we leave.
Your pet's aftercare is handled according to the option you have chosen — home burial, communal cremation, or private cremation. If you have selected cremation, we coordinate respectfully with our trusted local partner. We walk you through every option before the appointment so nothing is a surprise.
This is one of the most personal and difficult decisions a pet owner faces, and there is rarely a perfect answer. You are welcome to call or text us to talk it through — we are happy to walk you through quality-of-life considerations for your specific pet. You are not alone in this.
Think about where your pet is most comfortable — their favorite bed, a sunny spot, your lap. Have some of their favorite treats nearby if they are still interested. Let anyone who wants to be present know the time. Beyond that, there is nothing you need to do — we handle everything else with care.
Yes — whenever possible. When a pet is suffering and time matters, we do our best to come to you, including evenings, weekends, and emergencies. Availability depends on our current schedule, so please call or text as soon as you can and we will be honest with you about what we can do.
Yes — other pets can be present if that feels right to you. Many pet behaviorists believe it can help surviving animals process the loss in a healthy way. If a pet is anxious or disruptive, it may help to have them settle in another room. You know your animals best, and we will support whatever you decide.
We accept all major credit and debit cards, cash, Venmo, Zelle, and CareCredit. Payment is due at the time of the appointment. If you have any concerns about payment, please talk with us before scheduling — we never want finances to be a barrier to a peaceful goodbye.
